HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
CASTERTON
WELCOMING YOU TO CASTERTON
This iconic and historic church building has, since the early 19th Century, been a focal point for the village, a sacred place dedicated to worship and a venue for music and other performing arts. It is a major feature of the Lune Valley heritage and contributes much to the to the spiritual, educational and cultural life of the local and wider community.

Comments in our visitors’ book reflect how Holy Trinity’s well maintained interior, orderly church
gardens and significant artworks promote an atmosphere of peace and repose appreciated by villagers and our guests.
Over a hundred years ago, the plain, functional interior was embellished with extensive schemes of wall paintings by two famous artists, James Clark R.A. of Hartlepool and Pre-Raphaelite Henry Holiday. The beautiful stained glass windows, cathedral glass lancets and the Bridgeman reredos of finely carved oak are significant works of art, and are quite unusual in a country church.
